POSITION SUMMARY:
The Charge Nurse is responsible for the quality of nursing care delivery as well as the adherence to and the performance of care delivery per facility policies and procedures on his/her assigned shift and station.   Additionally, the Charge Nurse supervises and assists the Nurse Aides as needed during the performance of resident care.  The Charge Nurse is a pivotal member of the resident care team and must possess the skills to deliver and supervise care but also accurately communicate residents’ conditions to the rest of the care team.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to:         Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Clinical Coordinator                        
Supervises:        Nurse Aides

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND SPECIAL SKILLS:
  1. Current LPN license in the state of Kentucky.
  2. Must possess excellent clinical skills: assessment, documentation, infection control, wound care, respiratory procedures, medication administration, etc.
  3. Must possess excellent critical thinking abilities.
  4. A minimum of one year of experience in a long term care setting is preferred.
  5. The Charge Nurse must possess the proven ability to organize, plan, and direct nursing care.
  6. Must possess proven leadership skills.
  7. Must possess the ability to handle multiple assignments and issues, excellent communication and organization skills, the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  8. Must be able to provide leadership by remaining in control and calm during emergency situations.

SCREENING REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must pass administered drug screen and criminal background check.

This position is full time, part time, or PRN.  Shifts available are 6a - 3p, 3p - 11p, 11p - 7a.
